Building AI agents for Business Central: Lessons from my first implementations

Writing on his blog, Ammolh Saallvi stated that over the past few months, he has been experimenting with AI agents for different Business Central tasks. 

He wrote that what began as simple curiosity soon became a question: Could AI do more than answer questions and actually become a useful assistant for D365BC consultants and developers?

Saallvi noted that working closely with D365BC implementations, development, and support, he explored where AI could add real value to everyday work. He focused on common tasks where consultants and developers spend a lot of time gathering information, analyzing problems, and developing solutions.

Saallvi explained that his goal was to understand what AI could do. He tested different AI models, prompts, instructions, and tools to see how well AI could understand D365BC and provide useful recommendations.

He stated that the early results were encouraging. AI could explain concepts, summarize information, review scenarios, and answer technical questions quickly. But as he moved beyond simple experiments to real D365BC use cases, he noticed an important limitation.

Writing on his blog, Steven Renders stated that he recently spent time browsing the D365BC community forums and noticed a clear pattern. He observed that, although the Power BI questions covered different problems, most shared the same underlying cause.
