From Classroom to Community: How TechFluent’s Conference Partnerships Unlock Opportunity in the Microsoft Ecosystem

Executive Director, TechFluent Academy

In the Microsoft Business Applications ecosystem, real growth for new professionals requires both learning and community, ideally brought together through experiences like conferences. That’s why TechFluent is partnering with community-driven events in 2026 to extend our mission beyond the classroom and give students and alumni additional hands-on learning, access to professional networks, and visibility into how the ecosystem continually evolves.

Why community matters

Classroom learning builds foundations while community accelerates mastery.

TechFluent’s 2026 Industry Roundtable Paper identified three major challenges shaping the future workforce:

  • AI is rapidly reshaping entry-level roles
  • Mentorship across the ecosystem is inconsistent
  • Hands-on environments using tools like Copilot are limited

Community-driven conferences help close these gaps by connecting learners with real tools, real mentors, and context to understand real partner challenges and opportunities.

Conference partnerships powering the mission

TechFluent’s collaboration with major Microsoft ecosystem conferences is already creating opportunities for learners and alumni. Here are a few of the organization’s plans for the rest of the year.

Directions North America

Taking place April 27–29, 2026 in Orlando, Directions remains the premier partner-only event for Business Central practitioners, drawing roughly 1,400 attendees and 250+ sessions.

This year, Directions North America will support TechFluent as the conference charity beneficiary, helping raise awareness and funding for the organization’s first Business Central training cohort, specifically within the partner community. TechFluent leadership and students will also be present at the event in Booth E27.

Community Summit North America (Dynamic Communities)

Dynamic Communities invested directly in TechFluent as a Premier Community Partner in 2025, hosted five TechFluent alumni as speakers, and welcomed six students as attendees, including pre-conference academy workshops for the 11 participants. Their support also included booth space where TechFluent leadership connected with volunteers and partners who continue to fuel the organization’s mission.

Beyond the conference, Dynamic Communities’ Roadshows and “Learners” platform provide local stages where TechFluent alumni present, build confidence, and grow their professional networks.

DCI expects to host TechFluent at the Fall 2026 Conference in Nashville, TN with Booth presence, SpeedNetworking, hosting 10 Students and Alumni, and featuring several Speakers from the Organization.

Dynamics User Group (DUG): DUG Regional Meetings & Convergence

Several Alumni and active TechFluent Students participate in DUG Regional Meetings as speakers and attendees, as well as in the Mentorship Program. The DUG / TechFluent Community is deeply rooted and deeply valued.

At Convergence 2025, DUG graciously hosted a Merchandise Store to benefit the TechFluent Program, sponsoring an Alum to attend and help manage the store. TechFluent’s Board Treasurer stepped in to lend her sales expertise for a few hours each day as well, further solidifying the collaborative nature of this relationship.

The partnership between DUG and TechFluent goes back several years and includes myriad and creative collaborations, helping to keep precious and limited resources focused on our students.

PartnerIn’s Vibe

Launched in 2026, Vibe is a peer-driven conference focused on 300/400-level partner content and deep community collaboration, bridging Business Applications with Azure, Modern Work, Security, and Data & AI.

PartnerIn supported TechFluent by sponsoring an alumni attendee and inviting TechFluent’s Executive Director to moderate a roundtable discussion with partner leaders on AI-era skilling gaps. As PartnerIn looks toward Vibe 2.0 in Provo, UT this Fall, there are exciting thoughts for collaboration with TechFluent already in the works!

Three outcomes for TechFluent learners

Together, these conferences form a living laboratory where TechFluent learners gain context, demonstrate skills, and meet the people who open doors in their career journeys. We are continuing to invest in them in 2026 and beyond to achieve the following outcomes.

1. Continuing education through community learning

Conference labs, workshops, and technical sessions expose students to real-world implementation patterns, not just theory. More intimate local and regional events create approachable venues for first talks, study groups, and early leadership opportunities.

National and international events immerse learners in real partner conversations around AI, Copilot, and ERP modernization, helping them understand how these technologies are applied in practice.

2. Expanded professional networks

Large community events bring together hundreds of sponsors and thousands of attendees, creating opportunities for internships, apprenticeships, and early-career roles.

Channel-focused events like Directions North America adds access to partner and ISV leadership, enabling deeper conversations around mentorship, rotational programs, and hiring pathways.

3. Deeper ecosystem understanding

By engaging across multiple conferences and solution focus areas, learners gain a holistic view of how Microsoft technologies intersect in real customer environments.

This perspective helps early-career professionals and career changers identify where their skills fit within the broader ecosystem.

Building a stronger talent flywheel

TechFluent students often come from diverse prior careers and backgrounds. Community-led conferences provide the proving ground where they transform that experience into recognized Microsoft ecosystem value.

When combined with structured mentorship and AI-ready learning environments, the result is a powerful cycle:

Learn → Apply → Share → Get Hired → Mentor the Next Generation

The Microsoft ecosystem doesn’t just need more certifications—it needs connected, confident practitioners who can deliver great solutions with collaboration, and empathy.
