Business Central cloud migration: be careful on reusing the same self-hosted runtime
Writing on his blog, Stefano Demiliani stated that cloud migration in Dynamics 365 Business Central lets you safely move your data from an on-premises SQL Server or Azure SQL database to the cloud version of D365BC.
Demiliani noted that you can control the process from Business Central online. It connects to your on-premises database and uses a setup that copies your data step by step. While this is happening, your current on-premises system keeps running as usual until the migration is finished.
According to Demiliani, a key part of this process is something called the integration runtime, which is part of Azure Data Factory. He wrote that you should think of it as the engine that moves your data. He explained that there are two types used in this process and noted that once the data reaches the cloud, the Azure Integration Runtime moves it through a pipeline into your D365BC online database.
In his blog post, Demiliani discussed a common mistake that partners make during cloud migration setups.
External storage in BC: efficiency, security and control for attachments
Writing on his blog, Eduardo Pacherres Luján stated in ERP projects, document attachments can become a problem because they take up space, slow down the system, and make things harder to manage.
