Directions EMEA Notebook: Business Central Sustainability, E-Documents, Localization, and more
Amid the plans for copilots and copilot-related discussions, Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Business Central team also reminded partners that the product is adapting to the world that customers live in every day, dealing with regulatory mandates and market forces that demand more of them in areas that sometime present inconvenient demands.
Let’s examine some of the areas where customers and partners can expect to see continued functional and architectural investments in Business Central by Microsoft. Readers are free to set their own odds that AI will play a role in these plans.
Sustainability
Microsoft expects increasing data collection and reporting requirements related to sustainability regulations around the world.
“This is something that is coming at a fast pace and we all need to learn what is going on,” said principal group program manager Jannik Bausager. “Six to twelve months from now you will have customers asking about these terms.”
In the Business Central Sustainability role center, organizations can begin tracking emissions and goals for scope 1, 2, and 3. BC uses financial reporting as the basis for its emissions templates. With better sustainability reporting, companies will have better billing efficiency and be able to get paid faster, Bausager added.
In 2025 release wave 1 Business Central plans to support CSRD reporting, capturing emissions with sustainability journals, water and waste intensity management, and Scope 3 emissions value chain automation.
