Update ItemCoverage using OData – limitation & workaround

Writing on her blog, Anitha Eswaran explained that updating existing data using OData is not a new ask in any integration. She pointed out that there would not be any issues with most of the entities that are exposed during an update.

Update for entity is not direct and has to be accompanied with the parameters which are defined in 'Entity Keys.' The columns defined in the entity-key should be specified in the post/patch request.

Eswaran stated that although updates for most of the entities work fine, a few entities return an error message even when users follow these for the update. She noted that one such entity is ItemCoverageSettingsV2.

In her blog post, Eswaran explained what the issue is and offered a solution.

Simplifying data retrieval with D365FO X++ lookup method

On his blog, Deepak Agarwal wrote that one customization that D365FO offers is the ability to write X++ code for lookup methods. He explained that these methods can greatly simplify data retrieval and boost the user experience within the application.

In his blog post, Agarwal explored the lookup method in D365FO X++ code and provided a sample code snippet to demonstrate how it's used.

Agarwal noted that the lookup method in D365FO X++ code lets developers retrieve data from related tables or data sources based on specified criteria, and it also acts as a search functionality within the application, so users can more easily find and select the data they need.

He then provided a code snippet to use as a starting point for utilizing lookup methods in your D365FO customization projects.
