Epic and Microsoft team up to leverage Azure OpenAI Service for health records

Electronic health records company, Epic, announced an integration with Azure OpenAI Service. The announcement builds on an existing strategic partnership between the two companies with the goal of better integrating AI into health records. An initial pilot to automatically draft message responses is in place with UC San Diego Health, UW Health, and Stanford Health Care.

Many US hospitals closed out 2022 with labor shortages, prompting a heightened demand for productivity tools. Epic is also adding natural language query and data analytics capabilities to SlicerDicer, its self-service reporting tool.
