Microsoft's release of plans for the upcoming 2023 Release Wave 1 has led experts across the space to offer their guidance on what's worth watching. Let's review the recommendations of several more experts on the features and enhancements that will make a difference to Dynamics 365 and Power Platform customers.
New D365 Business Central approval workflow experience with Power Automate templates
On his AZURE curve blog, Ian Grieve wrote about the new approval workflow experience with Power Automate templates, which will be enabled for users automatically. Business owners and decision makers can choose from multiple templates when they set up approval workflows in D365BC, he explained.
The new release will make it easy for D365BC online customers who use Power Automate to run document approval workflows. Microsoft improved several actions linked to workflow approvals and Power Automate by including additional support for selecting one of many templates for each document type. Some of the advantages Grieve identified include:
- Define workflows tied to a selected Business Central environment and company.
- Approve documents using mobile devices.
- Approve documents using Microsoft Teams.
- Support a chain of approvers and additional input.
Grieve's opinion is that the integration with Power Automate sounds interesting and it also appears that the templates will make it easier to get started in some areas.
Dynamics 365 Marketing release wave 1 2023
On her blog, Vivian Tiiman discussed new features in the new release wave plan for Dynamics 365 Marketing.
The first feature Tiiman noted was the feature that will allow users to keep stakeholders in the loop by seamlessly copying them on email campaigns. Users need to switch this feature on from the features area in their marketing settings.
Tiiman noted that beginning in April, users will be able to CC up to five people in the real-time marketing (RTM) journey that's sending out their emails. And she discussed how to optimize your lead management process by engaging your sellers right away. Although this feature is already available in the outbound marketing (OBM) area, it will also be available in the real-time marketing area in April. Tiiman stated that users will be able to create leads and activities, such as make phone calls directly from the RTM journey, the same way they do in the OBM area.
In preview in July, another new feature will help users optimize B2B marketing and accelerate their pipelines with out-of-the-box analytics dashboards.
Tiiman also noted features in the plan including new marketing activity measurement, a new form building experience, the ability to reference sent emails in the interaction timeline, and support for more embedded file types in marketing content.
