Azure Updates: Payment HSM; Industrial IoT; UK research

Microsoft CVP Salim Chawro explained that Azure Payment HSM has become the first hyperscale cloud service to receive Payment Card Industry Personal Identification Number, or PCI PIN, certification. Payment HSM is a “bare metal” IaaS offering with cryptographic key operations for real-time payment transactions, and meets PCI PIN security requirements. The offering supports payment processing for cards, credential issuing for cards, POS data authentication, and point-to-point encryption.

According to VP and General Manager Moe Tanabian, Microsoft placed as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Industrial IoT platforms. Currently around 7000 manufacturers are making Windows IoT devices like human-machine interfaces, and Microsoft continues to roll out IoT-related capabilities like private multi-access edge compute.
