Ignite 2021: Power Platform broadens RPA access, introduces Power Fx language
The team behind Microsoft Power Platform kicked off Ignite 2021 with a range of announcements aimed at broadening access to the tool set and increasing use of cognitive services.
The company announced Power Fx, a low-code programming language designed to eventually be used across all Power Platform tools. Power Fx is used today in Power Apps canvas apps, but Microsoft stated that it will eventually become the "consistent language" across the Power Platform. The low-code language has its origins in Excel's coding style.
"Over the next 24 months, Microsoft Power Fx will bring true consistency to the Power Platform, with its use expanded across Power Apps’ Model-driven customizations, Dataverse Data Components and calculated columns, Power Virtual Agents, and Power Automate " wrote Microsoft executives Charles Lamanna and Arun Ulag in a blog post.
