Microsoft Dynamics 365 Portal: Updates accelerate in the October 2018 release and beyond
Since the acquisition of Adxstudio in 2015, Microsoft has been steadily adding new features to the Dynamics 365 Portal product. With the October ’18 release, Microsoft can now check off two more top requests from their list, SharePoint and Power BI integrations, to the delight of Portal administrators everywhere. And, with the confirmation that Portal will soon be available for Common Data Service (CDS) environments that are not using the Dynamics 365 applications, the future of Portal has never been brighter.
Adxstudio Portals Now Officially End-of-life
As of August 1, 2018, Adxstudio Portals v7 is now officially no longer supported by Microsoft. While many implementations using this version still exist out there, it’s recommended that anyone in that situation evaluate their options. It’s only a matter of time until a breaking change occurs that will make it impossible to use version 7 with the latest version of Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement. The feature most people are talking about is the SharePoint integration because it’s the one that has been the most requested since the launch of version 8. Part of the reason is that version 7 of Adxstudio Portals did include SharePoint integration, but it was removed after the acquisition.
