Microsoft launches D365 Government with the Department of Defense
Microsoft is set to deploy Dynamics 365 Government with US Department of Defense (DoD) in the first half of 2019. D365 Government capabilities are designed to meet DoD Impact Level 5 requirements, with availability in the DoD cloud and full authentication by the second half of 2019.
In March, Microsoft indicated that it was expanding D365 Government's capabilities to meet the regulatory compliance needs of the DoD. The expansion included contractors holding and processing for controlled unclassified information or data subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. D365 Government is expected to be generally available to customers that need to meet regulatory requirements by the end of 2018, with capabilities up to Impact Level 4.
Susie Adams, chief technology officer for Microsoft Federal, touted updates for government customers, made available in the Spring 2018 release, such as new business apps and app platform capabilities. D365 v9 was also included in the Spring release. So far, Microsoft has 1600 government customers and became the first SaaS service to get FedRAMP High certification in March, 2018 (Microsoft recently released documentation for Azure Stack customers to pursue the certification). "Microsoft Business Applications enable agencies to reduce the complexity of IT, meet their compliance regulations, and turn data and insight into intelligent action – making every interaction they have with citizens impactful and driving government efficiencies," said Adams, in a statement.
