Microsoft Project Madeira

Microsoft has announced a preview of Project "Madeira" today, a new offering based on the SMB ERP solution Dynamics NAV and Office 365 productivity tools. As Microsoft general manager Marko Perisic explains it:

"Project "Madeira" is a true multi-tenant public cloud service (Software as a Service) running on Microsoft Azure. Customers can access the service on the Web, or using apps for Windows, iOS, and Android devices."

The service is available as a public preview for now - the curious can set up their own preview without help from a Microsoft partnef. But as Microsoft MVP Eric Ernst notes, the released solution will be sold via Microsoft's Cloud Solution Providers (CSPs).

Some of the key capabilities for businesses include:

  • Create quotes and easily turn them into invoices
  • Manage customer records, stay on top of payments, and follow up on overdue accounts
  • Easily customize how quotes, orders, and invoices look with your company information
  • View income statements
  • View up-to-date P&L
  • Register expenses and purchases

Microsoft has also introduced a Power BI content pack for Project Madeira.

Perisic explains more about the offering in today's blog post:
