Microsoft to Amplify Attendees: Champion Dynamics GP + Microsoft Tech At Your Organization
Microsoft is urging Dynamics GP customers who are excited about the latest capabilities of GP 2016, to remember that the value of their ERP investment also depends on buying into the larger Microsoft technology vision, including Office 365, Power BI, and in many cases, Azure.
The benefits of GP 2016 are broader than just the latest features, Microsoft's Errol Schoenfish told the Amplify audience on Monday. It is the capabilities inside of Office 365 and Power BI in combination with GP updates like OData and the coming Power BI Content Pack for GP that will make a GP solution more valuable going forward.
"Our development team has put forward an amazing product surrounded by Microsoft technology, but users have to be the champions at their organizations," said Schoenfish as he concluded a keynote presentation at Amplify.
Dynamics GP users who have bought into the larger vision of working with Office 365 should already be enjoying benefits single sign on for users on the GP web client, better connected documents between the systems, and access to GP reports and documents saved to Office sites. And based on informal polls at Amplify, more than half of attendees appear to now be using Office 365. That is a threshold that speakers noted they had not seen at past GP conferences.
As Dynamics GP brings new features to market on its six month release cadence, the team knows that it needs its loyal customers to go with them. And that means finding a way to encourage partners and users to invest in upgrades (or "updates" as Microsoft is more often ...
