Many ERP systems are not up to the ever-changing complexities of the auto supply industry, but Microsoft partner Crowe Horwath LLP believes its new solution, the Crowe Automotive Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics AX, will support automotive manufacturers with the flexibility to meet their their unique requirements.

The Crowe Automotive Accelerator (CAA) is compatible with Dynamics AX 2009 and Dynamics AX 2012, including R3, according to Crowe Horwath officials. The company, one of the largest public accounting, consulting and technology firms in the US, also plans to support CAA for the upcoming Dynamics AX 7 release, and they already have a Dynamics AX 7 Technology Adoption Program (TAP) customer. As such, the company said it is in the unique position of having first-hand knowledge of how AX 7 will operate in a production environment and what that will mean for Crowe Horwath solutions like CAA.

"We are excited about the potential for the Azure Marketplace to make solutions like CAA more readily available to the Dynamics community," said Josh Cole, managing principal of Crowe Performance Consulting. "At this time, we are actively evaluating the Azure marketplace and how comprehensive, end-to-end solutions like CAA will be offered and supported."

The Crowe Automotive Accelerator supports all major EDI standards, including ASC X12, EDIFACT and Odette. It links OEM and supplier production scheduling, inventory and distribution systems. Additionally, implementation risks are reduced because of the preconfigured industry functionality, Cole said.

"This is a new EDI engine that is completely embedded within Dynamics AX," he said. "The nature of this approach to EDI management allows automotive suppliers to better support operations and production planning, especially when it comes to high volumes of EDI data."
