In Financial Reporting Update, Microsoft Dynamics ERP And CRM Find A New Home In Productivity And Business Processes Group
Microsoft has announced a new financial reporting structure starting in fiscal year 2016 that will divide its products into three operating segments: Productivity and Business Processes, Intelligent Cloud, and More Personal Computing.
Dynamics CRM and ERP will be part of "Productivity and Business Processes", along with commercial and consumer versions of Office and Office 365.
In the current structure, Dynamics is found under the Commercial segment, with CRM Online segmented under the "Commercial Other".
The new financial reporting structure will not align with the product teams at Microsoft. The team responsible for Dynamics now operates under the Cloud and Enteprise group run by Scott Guthrie. But C&E's other products will primarily be grouped into the "Intelligent Cloud" segment for financial purposes.
Microsoft's first quarter 2016 earnings, which will use the new structure, will be released after the market closes on October 22. They will be holding a conference call on September 29 to further explain the new structure.
