How Microsoft's 'Mobile-Friendly' Stance Will Have a Major Impact on Dynamics GP

Few could have predicted the changes that would occur when Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft, replacing Steve Ballmer. Almost overnight, Microsoft's entire business strategy shifted. Whereas the company's previous strategy had revolved mainly around their own platforms, suddenly Microsoft began embracing other platforms as a way to gain widespread adoption of their business software.

In an interview shortly after becoming CEO, Mr. Nadella outlined his new vision:

"When we say mobile first, we really mean mobility first," Nadella explained. "It's about offering users a great experience across devices, some ours, some not ours, that we can power uniquely."

In an email to all employees on July 10, 2014, Mr. Nadella built on this "mobile-first and cloud-first" strategy:

"At our core, Microsoft is the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world. We will reinvent productivity to empower every person and every organization on the planet to do more and achieve more.

Microsoft has a unique ability to harmonize the world's devices, apps, docs, data and social networks in digital work and life experiences so that people are at the center and are empowered to do more and achieve more with what is becoming an increasingly scarce commodity - time!"

While this strategy has been most visible in the company's consumer line of products, such as Office, Microsoft's Dynamics ERP line has also benefitted from this change in strategy. In the years ahead, what impact will this have?
