Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 released
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Update Rollup 1 (UR1) is available now.
This rollup contains stability and memory-consumption improvements, as well as fixes for 32 issues. Many of the resolutions sound like relatively specific problems (e.g., "The .addCustomFilter javascript function does not work properly."). Other issues will likely be more generally useful (e.g., "When data is entered into a form, the Save button can be clicked multiple times which results in multiple of the same record being created.").
Blake Scarlavai at Sonoma Partners highlights some of the key issues here. He also notes that you can verify whether UR1 has been applied by looking at version number on Dynamics CRM's "About" page. With UR1 we get to see the new versioning scheme in action. Microsoft has employed new version numbering rules to bring more clarity to major updates (first number), minor updates (second number), and upgrade rollups and builds (third number). Blake explains: "If it starts with 6.0.1 versus 6.0.0 then your Online organization has UR 1 applied. The third number here being the number of the UR applied."
UR1 can be uninstalled, and it requires no manual configuration. It will be available on Windows Updates in January 2014.
A first update rollup for CRM 2013 is an important step for the product. But many on-premise customers will likely continue waiting until at least the second UR, or further. Some customers may wait for the first UR that brings support to Windows Server 2012 R2, which could be two or three UR’s away still.
