In Microsoft reorg, Dynamics team mostly intact under Tatarinov

Kirill Tatarinov will continue to lead the Dynamics business following Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's announcement of a long awaited company-wide reorganization

But the Dynamics leadership under Tatrinov will also "dotted line report" to leaders of other reorganized groups. The Dynamics team's product leaders will also report to Qi Lu of the Applications and Services Engeering Group; the marketing leaders will also report to Tami Reller of the Marketing Group; and Tatarinov's sales leader will also report to the COO group under Kevin Turner.

In a memo to the company,  Ballmer said that his leadership team concluded that "our strengths are in high-value activitiespowering devices and enterprise services. And we realized we could bring those strengths together in a unique, differentiated experience that will delight consumers and customers."

Ballmer noted that the technology reorganization will consolidate and clarify the work that the company will be undertaking to transform into a devices and services company, including the special role of the Dynamics business:

"There will be four engineering areas: OS, Apps, Cloud, and Devices. We will keep Dynamics separate as it continues to need special focus and represents significant opportunity. We will consolidate our technologies coherently into these groups pulling together some things that have been spread out in our current BG structure like cloud infrastructure, operating systems, mail, and identity, to name a few.
