Microsoft to Announce Free Access to Professional Service Tool Library (PSTL) for Dynamics GP, SL Customers

Microsoft is preparing to announce that the Professional Service Tools Library (PSTL) for Microsoft Dynamics GP and SL will be made available for free to current Dynamics customers according to members of the partner community.

The LBMC Technologies blog has already shared its understanding of the announcement, explaining that the free access dates back to March 1.  But other sources say Microsoft has advised partners of a March 26 availability date for the master keys.  Partners are reportedly being notified in advance to avoid charging customers before the public announcement. We're awaiting clarification on these dates from Microsoft representatives.

PSTL offers tools for setting up or changing various areas of Dynamics GP including financials, purchasing, sales, payroll, and inventory.  For example, you can use PSTL to set a threshold number for PO and receipt numbers to prevents users from creating lower numbers that could avoid PO errors.

PSTL has in the past been discounted at times.  And over time, various tools in the library have been opened up for free access.

In January 2011, Dynamics GP MVP Mark Polino proposed this very idea - that PSTL should be part of a company's maintenance renewal, not something that should be re-purchased every year.  He wrote: "While most companies don't need these tools regularly, making them available to everyone would let companies take more control of their system."
