Let the Microsoft Dynamics GP 10 Interface Free You From the Toolbar
A recent Lifehacker
story suggested brushing your teeth with your opposite hand as a way
to change your perspective and boost willpower. Well, I still brush right
handed but I've changed my perspective by turning off the toolbar in Dynamics
GP10.
I've been using Microsoft Dynamics GP since version 5 in 1999. It's always had a toolbar, but recently I've been challenged to really review and learn all of the new homepage, list and navigation bar functionality. The best way to do that seemed to be to turn off the toolbar in all of the instances of GP that I use.
I've found that with the exception of some setup items on the Microsoft Dynamics GP menu that can't be turned off, everything I need is available at my fingertips via the Home Page and Lists.
The main homepage in each section gives me access to everything that was on the relevant menu bars, usually with a single click as opposed to multiple drill downs. I'm finding new features that I didn't know were there because the menu choices are sitting in front of me, not buried four clicks down. I end up asking myself what a particular menu item does and then going to find out. The list functionality that is available from the left navigation bar makes an amazing amount of data readily available at a glance on the bottom of the screen. I'm able to interact with that data, often with a single click, because of the ribbon style bar that is exposed at the top.
Because it's combined with easy drill back, it's changing the way I use Dynamics GP and it's changing the way I show clients how to use it. ...
