Why I Prefer ChatGPT Over Copilot for Sharing Dynamics 365 Business Central Concepts
Over the past few weeks, I’ve shared my evolving experiences with AI in Microsoft D365 Business Central through two MSDynamicsWorld articles. First, I explored how AI can reshape how we think about ERP, and then I wrote about how the process of explaining things to ChatGPT actually sharpened my own understanding of Business Central. Different stories, same takeaway: AI is a teacher as well as an accelerator.
This article continues that thread.
Where ChatGPT and Copilot diverge

Microsoft has positioned Copilot as the future of productivity, and for good reason. When you need answers drawn from your own Microsoft 365 environment—your data in Business Central, Excel, or Teams—Copilot shines. It can summarize, generate, and connect dots across your actual business information in ways that save real time.
But what if the question isn’t about your data? What if it’s about how Business Central works in general, or how accounting principles apply inside the system? In that space, I’ve found that Copilot doesn’t give me any advantage over ChatGPT. In fact, I prefer ChatGPT.
My perspective as a “translator” of complexity

My goal has always been to make the complex more understandable. That’s at the heart of Sharing the Righter Way™. And from that lens, ChatGPT’s conversational style makes technical material easier to digest.
Copilot, especially in Edge or Bing, tends to summarize what’s in Microsoft Learn articles or blog posts. It’s factual, but stiff like a rewritten help page. Useful, but not especially approachable.
