With coronavirus throwing the timing of IT project plans into flux, some Dynamics AX customers have raised the question of whether they can still complete their upgrade or migration to Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations within the current support deadlines.

Extended support plans for Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1, AX 2012, and AX 2012 R2 are due to end on October 12, 2021. AX 2012 R3 users have until January 10, 2023. And Microsoft is advising customers these dates will remains in place, at least for now.

A Microsoft spokesperson provided this statement:

There is currently no plan to extend support further; however, we continue to monitor market needs including impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic related to support for Dynamics AX 2009 and Dynamics AX 2012. Also, we will continue to evaluate the product roadmap based on a range of inputs including customer feedback.
