This week, Power BI pros share their insights on changing Azure Analysis Services server properties, viewing completed months in Power BI, time dimension tables or the M language and Power Query.

Changing the visibility of Azure Analysis Services server properties

On Chris Webb's BI Blog, Webb explored how to change the visibility of Azure Analysis Services server properties in SQL Server Management Studio. Many server properties can be edited in SQL Server Management Studio,  but these are often more difficult to change in Azure Analysis Services. He recommended using an XMLA script. Within the server properties dialog, users can alter the server properties but shouldn't click ok. Instead, they need to create a new XMLA query window and update the naming and values as needed.

According to Webb, users will usually need to enter section names in addition to the name of the server property and then hit the execute button.
