New feature updates planned by Microsoft in this month's Dynamics GP 18.8 release
The Microsoft Dynamics GP support and services team has kicked off a new blog post series covering enhancements that GP users can expect in release 18.8, also known as the October 2025 release.
“This latest version of our flexible business management solution is here to help you streamline your operations, gain valuable insights from your data, and confidently grow your business,” wrote Microsoft’s Terry Heley. She reminded customers about the product support and security patch end dates, then explained the series of blog posts running from now through October 16 on a range of the 18.8 updates.
Here are some selections from Microsoft’s latest writing about this release.
Sales order processing required fields
Terry Heley stated that when you save a sales order processing (SOP) document and some required fields are missing, the system gives you a clearer, more useful message. She noted that it tells you to expand the sales lines so you can fill in any mandatory fields, such as site ID or price list, before saving.
Heley pointed out that by default, the sales lines in the sales transaction entry scrolling window are collapsed, but you can open this window by going to transactions → sales → sales transaction entry. In the post, she explained why this is important.
Payables setup vendor class roll down
Expanding on a key enhancement in Dynamics GP 18.7, default vendor class roll down now defaults to "no."
