Microsoft Sustainability joins the Dynamics 365 Portfolio
Microsoft Sustainability Manager is officially becoming Dynamics 365 Sustainability, the company announced. The product helps organizations record and calculate environmental impact across carbon, water, and waste for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
Microsoft Sustainability Manager is currently offered in an Essentials (basic) tier for $4,000 per tenant per month and a Premium tier at $12,000. Those options appear to be staying the same with the brand update. Premium offers more Dataverse capacity (the solution relies heavily on Power Platform), carbon footprint management, Copilot capabilities, Scope 3 carbon management, and other preview features for water and waste data.
In addition to “Copilot in D365 Sustainability,” Microsoft expects customers to use Copilot Studio to build agents that interact with the service via Dataverse MCP.
Adding the service to the D365 portfolio “builds on the sustainability management capabilities organizations use today while creating deeper connections to the financial and operational processes behind environmental impact,” wrote Microsoft’s April Olsen, chief product officer for Dynamics 365 Finance, Human Resources, and Sustainability. “The goal is to make sustainability data more useful across the business, so organizations can move from understanding impact to influencing the activities that shape it.”
At the recent Directions for Enterprise 2026 conference for Dynamics 365 F&SCM partners, Microsoft’s Sameer Verma told the audience that sustainability remained a relevant element of the ERP portfolio, but he stopped short of revealing the D365 Sustainability branding at the time. The focus of sustainability tools, he told the audience, would include statutory and mandatory disclosures, and utilizing a separate sustainability ledger to meet regulatory requirements.
And he assured partners that Microsoft is investing in sustainability capabilities “with the same seriousness” whether it is getting buzz in the broader market or not.
