Microsoft Corp. has released Business Portal 6.0 for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. It supports on SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint Foundation 2010, according to Microsoft. Business Portal 6.1 will be out later and will support SharePoint 2013.

Business Portal is a web-based app that provides access to Dynamics GP data to users who don't have access to the Dynamics GP application.

Business Portal can be used on a company's intranet by including other content that is used by the organization, but that is not stored in the accounting system, such as an company's employee handbook, according to Microsoft.

Business Portal is built on a stack of other Microsoft applications, beginning with Windows Server 2008, or Windows Server 2008 R2. Internet Information Services (IIS) hosts virtual servers, each of which can contain a separate web-based application.

Business Portal 6.0 is currently only supported on Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 or later and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later and Internet Explorer 8.0, Internet Explorer 9.0, and Internet Explorer 10.0.

Because SharePoint 2010 won't be supported on Windows Server 2012 until the release of Service Pack 2 for SharePoint 2010, Business Portal 6.0 is also currently not supported on Windows Server 2012, according to Microsoft execs.
