Microsoft postpones Dynamics 365 Business Central v16 updates to resolve issue

Microsoft has paused its scheduled updates of Dynamics 365 Business Central to v16 while the team resolves an issue. Once a hotfix is deployed, updates will resume, with paused updates getting rescheduled.

"Yep, we have found an issue, serious enough to fix and avoid pushing it into all of these environments ;) Once the updates have been resumed you will get another notification," wrote Microsoft's Dmitry Chadayev on Twitter. He was responding to Microsoft MVP and Business Central expert Erik Hougaard, who noticed the problem while awaiting updates to v16 for his clients.

Chadayev pointed out that Microsoft are following their own policy on postponing Business Central updates.

Per the documentation, customers should be receiving notifications of the delay and their update rollout status will be set to Postponed under the Version Management section of the admin center. The question of when updates will restart is, of course, dependent on how long it takes to implement a fix. The documentation also lays out rules for how rescheduling works, including how and when updates will be automatically rescheduled for those customers who don't set a date.
