Performing Daily Bank Reconciliations in Dynamics GP Speeds Up Month-End Closing

On the Boyer & Associates blog, Jack Boyer noted that accountants are very busy at the beginning of every month as they try to close the books for month end. He said a lot of companies are able to close their books in a couple weeks. But the process can take five weeks or more for other firms.

However, some companies are able to perform their month-end close with Microsoft Dynamics GP in two or three days. In his book, "Fast Close," CPA Stephen Bragg offers guide to shrink the process down to just one day.

That's not Impossible, if you perform daily bank reconciliations, Boyer stated.

Today, almost all companies have online access to their bank accounts. They no longer need to wait for a monthly paper statement. To that end Bragg recommends reconciling bank data on a daily basis to make the month end process much faster and easier.

Boyer shows you how to do daily bank reconciliations in Dynamics GP here.
