Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 SP2 on tap for August release
Microsoft is scheduled to release Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Service Pack 2 on Wednesday or Thursday of next week. That's according to Terry Heley, Escalation Engineer, Microsoft Dynamics GP, speaking recently at a GPUG event.
Dynamics GP 2013 was last updated in April when Service Pack 1 was released. Microsoft made the product generally available last December.
"If you're on 2013, we're starting to release little features in the service packs that we've never done before, outside of the usual table changes and error fixes," Heley said. "So if you're a customer that has ISV [solutions] or customizations, you want to test out these patches, especially on 2013, make sure they work with your environment, and test first then apply it to live. We are making more table changes and feature changes in the service pack because we're trying to roll out more things to you as customers sooner rather than later so you can get these little features that you're asking for right now."
Heley said SP2 for Dynamics GP 2013 will release first. Microsoft will then release Service Pack 4 for GP 2010, which is due to release September 6. She said this will be the last Service Pack for GP 2010, the big patch for 2010 outside of the continued tax and year end updates, which will continue through the year and into early 2014.
"I'm bringing this up now because when we release the US Payroll year end in November, if you haven't installed these patches, you are going to get them at year-end time, no matter what," Heley said. "So it's up to you if you want to start at least testing them now. ...
