AX 2012 Extension Framework
On the Dynamics AX Musings blog, Joris de Gruyter says that in a lot of ways, X++ developers, including himself, have gotten lazy over the years. He says that there a lot of things X++ developers do today that they probably would never do in any other programming environment just because "that's how it's done" in the standard Microsoft Dynamics AX code.
Even things that everyone knows about, like events, are underused in the standard code base, de Gruyter says. But to cut Microsoft some slack, there are obviously millions of lines of code that would have to be changed to adopt all these new features. But that's not going to happen overnight, he adds
"Anyway, I wanted to point out this under-documented framework called the Extension Framework. I've only seen some minor blog posts about it, but I couldn't find it on MSDN or Technet anywhere. Regardless, I think this has great potential - especially for ISVs or partner solutions that need to become more plug & play."
