Unlock hidden insights in your Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations data with data lake integration

Writing on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Blog, Milinda Vitharana stated that if your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations solution includes using a data lake, you can connect your D365FO apps environment with a data lake, which simplifies data pipelines and enables you to unlock the insights hidden in that data.

With general availability of the Export to Data Lake feature in Finance and Operations apps, data from your Dynamics 365 environment is readily available in Azure Data Lake.

Vitharana stated that data lakes are optimized for big data analytics and explained how they can be used. For example, using Power BI, you can create rich operational reports and analytics and your data engineers can big data technologies, including Spark, to reshape data or apply machine learning models.

In his blog post, Vitharana described the steps necessary to install the "export to data lake feature."

Get custom D365FO objects at runtime using X++

On his Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Blog, Alex Meyer noted that a while back, he asked a question on the D365FO forums about being able to generate a list of custom objects within an environment at runtime via X++. However, since he never followed up on his answer there, he decided to provide a detailed response about how he solved the issue.
