Update policies for Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement

On InfoStrat's Townsend Report, Jim Townsend stated that recently Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement customers were notified about new policies for updates.

He pointed out that updates only apply to customers hosted in the Microsoft commercial cloud and not for on premises deployments managed by customers or for Microsoft government clouds for the United States and Germany.

However, in his blog post, Townsend offered some highlights and thoughts on the update policies of cloud services.  You can read the rest of the post here.

Unearthing the 'solution layering' feature of Dynamics 365. How are the good old concepts of patching and cloning related to it?

On Debajit's Dynamics CRM Blog, Debajit Dutta explained how you can benefit from using solution layering.

In his blog post, Dutta stated that although the concept of solution layering isn't new, it has only been running behind the scenes and there was no way to visualize it.

Solution layering just gives a wonderful visibility of how the managed solutions are stacked up. And how a components' final behavior is affected by multiple solutions imported here. The logic of the inner workings now get a wonderful UI to visualize.

You can read the rest of the post and see an example showing the entire solution layering visual, involving patching and cloning here.
