BC V29: AL extensions just learned to share
Writing on his blog, Ammolh Saallvi stated that since Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Release Wave 2, AL extensions have been able to include resources such as images, JSON files, and templates directly in an app.
He noted that the extension can then access those files when it needs them. This has been useful for D365BC partners building features such as item picture galleries and configuration templates.
However, Saallvi pointed out that there has been one major limitation: resources included in one extension could only be used by that extension. If another app on the same tenant needed the same file, it had to include its own copy. He wrote that version 29 removes that restriction. Apps can now share these resources, which could make it much easier to build and manage solutions that use multiple AL apps.
Saallvi then explained what changed and provided information on the part that actually matters.
Locking down IsolatedStorage reads
Writing on his blog, Stefano Demiliani stated that if you use the IsolatedStorage object in D365BC to store settings or secret keys, you may have run into a problem when two sessions try to update the same information at the same time.
