Microsoft Demonstrates Progression of SmartList Tools for Dynamics GP in New Webinar

If your company is growing and you're worried about the new systems you'll need to meet the ever-changing business requirements, Microsoft wants you to know about some pretty nifty tools in Dynamics GP to let you personalize your experience- from creating new refreshable reports to creating mini-applications-without the need for a developer.

In a recent Microsoft-hosted webinar, Jodi Christiansen, a technologist at the company, gave members of the GP User Group a high-level overview of SmartList Builder and Extender for Dynamics GP.

SmartList lets users organize and display data from the accounting system in a way that makes sense to them. Then users can search those records according to specific criteria.

SmartList Builder adds some extra power and range to the SmartList tool so users can query more data in more ways. That's because SmartList Builder lets users access all the information that they capture so they can create their own custom SmartLists.

"When we talk about SmartList Builder we're actually talking about four different tools we have within Dynamics GP," Christiansen said. "There's the original SmartList Builder, which allows you to build your own SmartList that you can see within the SmartList window that was added with GP 9. In GP 10 service pack 2, we added Excel Report Builder, which is similar to SmartList Builder but instead of having the information available in SmartList it allows you to publish an Excel report.
