Microsoft charts expansion of Azure Synapse, Cognitive Services at Ignite 2021
Microsoft CVP Rohan Kumar told Ignite 2021 attendees that Azure Synapse is expanding its reach, while Azure Machine Learning saw 4x growth in operatinos in the last year.
Azure Synapse Pathway, which Microsoft announced this week, can scan source systems and rapidly transform SQL data to T-SQL for use in Azure Synapse Analytics. Kumar stated:
What used to take weeks or months can now be accomplished in mere minutes. We're talking hundreds and thousands of lines of SQL code translated in minutes.
The offering is intended to remove the need for manual transformation of code and enhanced collaboration between data teams and IT teams.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights, Microsoft's customer data platform (CDP) play, is also natively integrated with Synapse Pathway, he added.
Within Synapse Studio, Customer Insights data is automatically discoverable and can be used to gain powerful and predictive insights that can be surfaced back to the Dynamics 365 Customer Insights to empower sales, service, marketing professionals, to provide more personalized experiences for their customers.
Currently, enterprise users like BBC, Amway, Pepsi, Airbus, and Progressive Insurance use Azure cognitive services for customer experience.
According to Kumar, Microsoft has witnessed a 400 percent increase in Azure Machine Learning operations over the past year. Over the same time, Cognitive Services reached 53 billion transactions per month up 130 percent from the prior year.
