Microsoft Azure Review: Cloud migrations; Kubernetes; Proof of authority; Gab; Attack playbooks; The JEDI contract, and more

Acronis, a hybrid cloud data protection and storage company in New Zealand partnered with Microsoft to expand its integration with Azure. At the same time, Derby, UK-based Node4 premiered N4Stack, a bundle of services billed as a way to help Azure users move to an automated infrastructure as code model, spanning DevOps, SysOps and security.

Simon Bisson, a columnist with InfoWorld explored the subject of distributed applications in connection with Azure Kubernetes containers. Paul Schnackenburg, writing in Virtualization and Cloud Review focused on the topic of VMs and recommended users understand their workloads, look into H series VMs with eight or 16 vCPUs, or N series if a GPU is needed. He also included advice about availability sets for multiple VMs and touched on storage and disk encryption.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator, a frequent Microsoft cloud case study target that lost its CEO and chairperson in July, has been the subject of discussions about a possible breakup by investors or merger with rival Finnish elevator company, Kone, Diginomica reports in a new interview with the company's head of digital transformation, Hyun Shin-Cho. To reduce service outages with its elevators the company has hosted its Max machine data sensor system on Azure since its launch in 2015. Currently, ThyssenKrupp has 120,000 elevators fitted with the cloud-connected Max Box devices.
