Microsoft announces Azure for Operators updates, partner progress (March 5, 2022)
Microsoft shared new details on the telecommunications-focused Azure for Operators, including the launch of hybrid cloud Distributed Services offering.
The company plans to have the new service run either on Azure or AT&T on-prem. Currently, Operator Distributed Services can support AT&T’s core mobile network, including 60 containerized network functions and VNFs from 15 different vendors.

Microsoft completed its $19.7 billion acquisition of cloud and AI software provider Nuance. Eighty members of the Fortune 100 use Nuance solutions, according to the company, which offers specialized AI-based tools and services for creating documents, analyzing voices and behavior, or diagnostic imaging in verticals including healthcare, financial services, telecommunications, government, and retail.
James Phillips, president of Microsoft's Digital Transformation Platform Group, departs (Apr. 4, 2022)
James Phillips announced his departure from Microsoft. Philips was president of the company's Digital Transformation Platform Group for the last year, a leadership role that included some Azure service responsibilities in addition to Microsoft Business Applications.
