Getting to Know the HRM Self Service Suite for Microsoft Dynamics GP Business Portal

So, let's say you have installed Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics GP and you're taking advantage of its benefits but you are struggling to explain the value of  deploying the HRM Self Service Suite for your users.

At a recent online meeting of the Dynamics GP User Group, Joseph Tews from Agri-Cover Inc. shared some insights into the HRM (Human Resources Management) Self Service Suite.  The suite consists of a collection of web-based applications that are accessible from within Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics GP and allow employees to view certain HR and payroll information. Employees can update their personal information, enter timecards, submit vacation requests, and complete other related tasks. Additionally, managers can approve timecards, modify their employees' pay rates, and complete other administrative tasks.

"Business Portal is a web-based way to view your GP information through SharePoint," Tews explained. ‘One of the nice features of that is that we don't have to purchase another GP license at about thirty-five hundred dollars to view this information."

"You can use Business Portal to view your paystubs and it pulls that information straight from GP," he said. "You can also enter timecards through the Business Portal HRM Suite and have those go through an approval process so it has its own workflow associate with it so you can managers approve those timecards and have it flow seamlessly into GP where it gets entered into a payroll batch and you get paid right on the fly. So it's a very green, a very time-saving way of entering timecards and getting those people paid."
