Former AXUG Director Frank Vukovits Joins Fastpath, Reflects on Evolution of Microsoft Dynamics AX User Base

Frank Vukovits departed his role with AXUG and parent organization Dynamic Communities (DCI) last week, but he won't be going too far. He has taken a new role as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Fastpath, makers of security, audit, and compliance solutions for the Dynamics ERP product line and beyond.

The move is a big one for Vukovits after ten years in various roles with DCI and thirteen overall with Dynamics AX. He is one of the founders of AXUG, having led one of the first Axapta implementations in North America after the Microsoft acquisition in 2002.

"I was managing a team of 25 that was rolling out Axapta for 200 users. Back then we had Microsoft execs showing up to see how things were going. It was 200 users in 1 building and that was a big account back then," recalls Vukovits in an interview. "It was big deal. I had 7 developers and we were writing our own integration to shipping, tax,  credit cards, the warehouse for picking and packing. So that was my first exposure to the world of Axapta."

He and other early customers, including DCI's founder, who was at that time an Axapta user, Andy Hafer. They met at Convergence 2004, then got the user group initiative rolling later in 2004. Hafer recalled the start of their collaboration in a recent blog post:
