DynaSource has a new approach to maximizing consulting utilization, starting with the Microsoft Dynamics channel

DynaSource, a new online sourcing platform for services organizations, aims to solve a perennial problem - the low utilization of consultants across a service channel. The company is taking on the challenge with a new business model that it believes will boost yield for consulting firms and establish new pathways for IT services contracting. And they are starting their journey in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP and CRM space.

The staffing challenge

Some IT services firms are flush with new deals, but they may not have the resources to staff the optimal number of projects. At the same time, other firms may be languishing with too many pricey, highly skilled consultants on the bench. While outsourcing is nothing new in the services industry, the process can be inefficient, time consuming and challenging to negotiate. Adding to the complexity of optimized utilization is the fact that the best matching needs may reside in organizations doing business in different countries or different channels.

"The sad news is that some thirty to forty percent of [Dynamics] partner make no money," says DynaSource co-founder Richard Bross. "One major reason is that billing rates are too low. Another reason is that out of a consultant's 260 days available, many only work 200. The vision we have is that IT sourcing will become more global. It doesn't matter where the skill comes from as long as it's there. That's the vision and idea, so if you have a project and sixty to seventy percent is partner driven, it doesn't matter where the other thirty percent they come from as long as they're there."
