DynamicsMinds 2026: Dynamics 365 Finance roadmap pushes toward agent-driven future

Editor, MSDynamicsWorld.com

Many finance teams report already using AI in targeted ways, but recent data suggest that only a small fraction of them consider it to be embedded into core processes. The autonomous agents that Microsoft is envisioning and planning, whether orchestrated through first-party ERP architectures or broader AI platform expansion, will aim to encourage organizations to take that next step toward what Microsoft now calls agentic ERP.

Today, workers might be using Microsoft 365 Copilot pre-built agents, or they could be experimenting with Copilot Cowork’s ability to monitor accounting system signals and make suggestions.

And this week at DynamicsMinds 2026, Microsoft offered a glimpse of another upcoming agent project, ClawPilot. Though the full reveal of the company’s OpenClaw work will be coming in a future Microsoft event, Dynamics 365 AI ERP CVP Georg Glantschnig demonstrated how the new agent interface, built with the OpenClaw project, can create new semi-autonomous agent experiences for workers that align with both business applications and vertical knowledge of an organization. In a short demo, he showed a ClawPilot agent helping a worker with procurement by raising an alert related to an email from a vendor that advised of a delay in the delivery of goods. The agent suggested ways to mitigate the issue by using safety stock based and orchestrated the transfer.

Dynamics 365 Finance has other non-OpenClaw agent plans, too. The product team has identified at least 25 specific agents that it wants to develop across core capability areas, according to Marco Smits, Microsoft Global Black Belt for D365 AI ERP, who presented at DynamicsMinds 2026. That "agentic ERP" approach will look very different from today’s ERP experience, he stated. Microsoft foresees organizations maintaining an ERP agent catalog that will be driving headless business services across the same areas that Dynamics already serves.
