Diving Deeper into the Upcoming Microsoft Dynamics GP Pricing Changes to Discover Real Savings

Microsoft first announced the new "Perpetual Pricing" model for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and NAV 2013 at its Worldwide Partner Conference in July. The new pricing model will result in far fewer individual line items in the price list, with the aim of making it easier for partners to generate quotes and customers to understand them. This change will affect both existing and new Microsoft Dynamics customers as early as October 1, 2012.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Napkin PricingAs with any software pricing change, understanding the details can have a real impact on the bill as existing customers map the pricing model to their companies. Abra Lynne Gilman of Collins Computing, writing on the ERP Software Blog, offers some specific tips for existing Microsoft Dynamics GP customers to consider before it's too late to take advantage of the opportunities. 

The impact of the changes  ranges from a fifty dollars to potentially several  thousand, depending on a company's needs.

  • If your company doesn't own the Integration Manager Module, but is thinking about adding it to your module list (retail $5,000), you should probably purchase it now. Because once Dynamics GP 2013 is released, the price for the Integration Suite will increase to $10,000. "Yes, it includes other items, but it still costs $10K," she said.
  • If your company is thinking of adding Payroll and Human Resources, you could wait to purchase the modules until transitioning and get unlimited employees for both within the new "Starter Pack." But ...
