Delivering on the Promise: The Detailed Flash Report for Microsoft Dynamics GP

I promised a final article about the detailed drilldown reports derived from our Summary Flash Report.  Mike, our Universal Integration Framework Specialist, kept putting me off.  And when he finally wrote the few sentences to provide the technical "how to" details, I kept putting off this article in part because, as you'll see below, there are only a few new considerations to account for.

But first, I would really like to hear from folks in the comments or with a direct message - how many people attempted to write a report using our techniques?  How many people succeeded and wrote the report they needed?  Hope we hear from you. 

The simple explanation on detailed drilldown reports is, write the detail reports the same as the summary report.  Just remove the script to summarize.  All of the detail reports retrieve data from the same areas as the corresponding summary reports. The passed-in parameter is used to filter the returned data to the transactions that make up the balance upon which you've chosen to drill down. The current assets and current liabilities summary report allows drill down first into the GL Summary view and then into the GL Detail view.

One additional hint we think is important:  many components of the report rely on accurate account categories assigned to general ledger accounts.  The client for whom we developed the report used the native categories with several of the names modified.
