CFOs: Prepare for the New Opportunities of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Office 2013, Expert Advises

As CFOs at Dynamics GP customers are looking strategically - from a budget standpoint - toward next year, it's important for them to understand what kinds of features are coming in Dynamics GP 2013 as well as in Microsoft Excel 2013, due out around the same time, according to Mark Polino, a CPA and Microsoft MVP for Dynamics GP. Polino shared some of the new features he was most excited about with members of the Dynamics GP User Group's CFO Special Interest Group.

"There are a lot of business intelligence and reporting type things in Excel 2013 that could really help CFOs get the information they need out of Dynamics GP," he said.

When GP 2013 comes out, it will be offered on-premise as well as in the cloud, he said.

"So if you would like to rent instead of buy your GP, that's available to you," Polino said. "And then there's a hybrid model that's interesting to a lot of people because they have robust infrastructures around GP for maybe their main accounting group, but then they have some far-flung divisions in different parts of the country, in different parts of the world that they would like to easily hook into GP 2013. So the ability to do this as a hybrid model, where most of your folks works like they do today but the web client is available for folks who are outside of the office. That makes it a huge advantage for GP over some of the other models out there. You really don't have to change what you're doing today to get some benefits of the cloud."
