In Brief: Dynamics AX Vendor "Shootout", Dynamics AX Beats Out Competitors, Windows Azure Tools Available

A Dynamics AX "Vendor Shootout". On Nov. 13, seven ERP vendors will participate in a side-by-side comparison of the Microsoft Dynamics AX solutions-this at the third ERP Vendor Shootout in Philadelphia. The event is intended to help small and mid-size companies evaluate ERP systems. In addition to the Dynamics options, representatives from other software developers, including SAP, Sage, and Oracle, will be present. According to one of the Dynamics vendors, Sunrise Technologies, "The goal of the event is to simplify the ERP software selection process. This event alleviates some of the painful inefficiencies of the selection process by coordinating onsite software presentations and delivering them in a one day event. End-user attendees will participate in a series of scripted demos from resellers, gaining a side-by-side, comparative view of product functionality, user interfaces, and overall usability."

A Microsoft Dynamics AX "Win" Over Key Competitors. Microsoft Corp. announced recently that Vitalize Consulting Solutions Inc. (VCS), a rapidly expanding healthcare IT services provider based in Kennett Square, Pa., and Reading, Mass., and serving hospitals and healthcare organizations across the U.S. and Canada, selected Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 to help the company continue its rapid growth. Microsoft said it "beat out competition from Salesforce.com Inc., SAP AG, Agresso and other rival vendors in a rigorous vetting process to land the lucrative contract." It added that the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 modules will replace an assortment of point solutions riddled with manual processes, which the company has added incrementally over the past five years to cope with its rapid expansion from small startup to midsize organization.
