Azure Government Roundup: Power BI for Government Secret; Databricks; Cost Management
Power BI for Azure Government Secret is currently under review by a Third Party Assessment Organization. According to Microsoft corporate vice president Arun Ulag, it will be submitted for Provisional Authorization to Operate, or P-ATO, for Department of Defense Impact Level 6 workloads. The service will deliver across three dedicated regions for US Federal Civilian, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and partners supporting Secret enclaves. Ulag wrote:
Power BI US Government Secret is designed for the unique requirements of critical national security workloads that cannot be served out of a single geographic location. To provide the geo-diversity required…These dedicated Azure regions are located over 500 miles apart to enable applications to stay running in the face of a disaster without a break in continuity of operations.
The Azure Government team also made other announcements:
- Cost Management + Billing's cost allocation rules are in public preview, while Cost Management now also supports Pay-As-You-Go subscriptions.
- Azure mobile app now supports Government and US Gov Virginia Availability Zones are GA.
