7 Key Improvements in Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 Feature Pack 1 (FP1)

The enhancements to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 were so exciting to us that we could not wait to see what Microsoft had in store for with their first feature pack for Dynamics SL 2011.  The newest enhancements did not disappoint even after the features of the initial release of Dynamics SL 2011 were the best we had seen in 10 years.

The Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011 FP1 feature set centers on continued Project enhancements, Time & Expense Web Services, and the inclusion of Business Analyzer for Dynamics SL 2011. Here are some of our favorite highlights from this release:

1. Hard Close by Module

The ability to post to closed fiscal periods can now be controlled at the module level. A new Posting Options tab was added to the GL Setup screen.

2. Batch Control report by Module

The printing of batch control reports can now be controlled at the module level. The option Automatic Batch Reports is changed to Automatic Batch Reports for all Modules. This prints all batch reports for all modules as before.

3. Flexible Billings Fiscal Period Filter for Automatic Invoice Creation

You can now filter items that you select for invoice creation in Automatic Invoice Creation (BI.AIC.00) by fiscal period. The Start Fiscal Period box and End Fiscal Period box are added and you can specify starting and ending dates or starting and ending fiscal periods.  You ...

Jack’s career began doing application and sales support for Solomon Software- the firm that created Dynamics SL. Jack was promoted to regional manager when the firm moved him from Philadelphia to Chicago in 1988.

Jack believes that finding the right software is only a piece of the challenge in implementing software. Without the right people to implement it, you only have half a solution. You need the right business analyst to flush out a company’s requirements and you need the right consultants to make the software align with those needs.

Jack has an honors degree in accounting from Penn State (1984) and passed the CPA exam while at Boyer & Associates.
