Farsight Demand Forecasting incorporates Microsoft Demand Planning

Farsight Demand Forecasting now includes an option to generate forecasts for selected or all items using Microsoft Demand Planning. This extends the forecasting models available to Farsight customers while also providing much more flexibility in the ways customer accounts can be grouped when forecasts are generated using Demand Planning.  It also enables customers to generate forecasts with fewer dimensions than those required by Master Planning, in which case the forecasts are automatically split over the missing dimensions using allocations calculated from demand history.

Our Demand Forecasting product also provides critical functionality that is not provided by Demand Planning. The most commonly used examples are:

  • Item supersessions
  • Generation of forecasts at item group level with automatic splitting over items in each group
  • Offline maintenance of forecasts using Excel spreadsheets
  • Automatic splitting of monthly forecasts into weekly forecasts
  • Importing of customer forecasts
  • External events
  • Forecast values, not just quantities
  • Forecast accuracy measurements, used for filtering display of forecasts on screens and for comparing the accuracy of different sets of forecasts
  • Safety stocks calculated based on forecast accuracy.
