Dynamics 365 Business Central: Using semantic search from AL
Writing on his blog, Stefano Demiliani noted that in February 2024 Microsoft held a three-day #BCAIHackathon. During the event, he and two others built a native semantic search feature for Business Central.
In that prototype, the team showed that a backend-native semantic search using embeddings directly at the SQL level can greatly improve search performance when people search using related meanings instead of exact words.
Demiliani wrote that after the prototype, they had several discussions with Microsoft. Now that work has become a real product. He noted that he's especially happy to share that D365BC now includes embedding-based semantic search as a built-in capability for AL developers.
In his post, Demiliani explained why semantic search is important and how it's implemented in D365BC.
How user and AI agent avatars improve record ownership in BC 28
Writing on his blog, Saurav Dhyani stated that one of the smaller but very useful improvements in D365BC 2026 Release Wave 1 (D365BC 28) is the addition of user and AI agent avatars directly on list pages.
