Why growing businesses are replacing custom ERPs with Business Central

On the CloudFronts blog, Priyesh Wagh wrote that for many small and midsize businesses, the ERP system that once supported early growth is now holding them back. Custom-built systems were often created years ago for simpler operations, fewer products, lighter compliance needs, and limited integrations.

Wagh noted that today's businesses need better visibility, more flexibility, and stronger systems that can adapt as they grow. Wagh made the case for why D365BC is a practical next step for companies ready to move on from outdated, home-grown systems.

According to Wagh, many leaders say their legacy ERP systems still work. However, he noted that working doesn't mean it's ready for the future. He then provided information about the common challenges they have with custom ERP systems.

Wagh then explained why D365BC is the right upgrade path.

Fix status_access_violation crashing your Business Central web client

On the ERP SoftwareBlog, an author from Trango Tech Dynamics asked if you're frustrated by D365BC web client crashes.

The author stated that the status_access_violation error can interrupt everyday work, especially when you're using Edge or Bing preview browsers.

The author pointed out that you might log in to run a report or enter an invoice, only to see a "This page is having a problem" message. The session crashes, work may be lost, and you have to start over. The author noted that users have reported this issue since 2023, often thinking D365BC itself was broken.

In many cases, the author explained that the cause is an outdated browser. Older versions of Edge or Chrome can crash during normal actions, such as searching or posting documents, forcing teams to redo work and costing the business time and money.

In the post, the author explained why this happens and offered simple step-by-step fixes.

Modern 1099 filing in Business Central

Writing on the ERP Software Blog, Mark Munson from ACE Micro explained the changes Microsoft has made to 1099 processing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. He also offered a brief overview of how the 1099 process will work for 2025.

Munson wrote that Microsoft has added several new 1099 features over the last few releases, and these updates are now available in all cloud environments. He noted that ACE recommends scheduling and completing the 27.2 update (December 2025) as soon as possible.

According to Munson, the updated 1099 process connects directly to the IRS. He added that D365BC no longer prints 1099 forms on preprinted IRS forms. Instead, it submits 1099 forms electronically to the IRS and sends vendors Copy B versions printed on plain paper.

Munson stated that in D365BC 27.2, you can't print or email all 1099 forms at the same time from the IRS 1099 form document page. He noted that each vendor's form must be printed or emailed one at a time.

He pointed out that this is a known limitation tied to Microsoft's move toward electronic 1099 filing. Munson stated that a future hotfix is expected to add bulk printing and emailing.

In his blog post, Munson discussed in detail the changes that Microsoft has made to 1099 processing in D365BC.
